Heat

It was a normal day at school.
We were preparing for students to return, and everyone had a task to complete. Mine was simple—running laminating sheets through the machine.
Nothing new.
Nothing different.
Just the same process.

Put it in one side…
Watch it come out the other.
The Moment
As I kept repeating the process, I began to pay closer attention.
When the sheet came out, I noticed how hot it was.
And I found myself thinking…
“Imagine what that sheet just went through.”
That heat wasn’t light.
It was intense.
And in that moment, something clicked.
The Revelation
Without the heat…
Nothing would stay in place.
The paper would fall out.
The image wouldn’t be clear.
The process wouldn’t even work.
Without the heat… there is no finished product.
Deeper Understanding
When the laminating sheet goes in, it’s cloudy.
You can’t see through it clearly. It may even feel rough or unclear.
But after it goes through the heat…
It comes out clear.
No cloudiness.
No distortion.
Everything is sealed and in place.
Spiritual Connection
This is what the refining process looks like.
When we come to God, we don’t come perfect.
We come:
hurt
confused
distracted
broken
fearful
carrying things we were never meant to hold
But through the process…
Through the pressure…
Through the heat…
God begins to refine us.
Isaiah 48:10 (ESV)“Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tried you in the furnace of affliction.”
Shift
The heat is not there to destroy you.
It’s there to develop you.
Encouragement
So, the next time life feels uncomfortable…
The next time things feel intense…
The next time you feel like you’re being stretched…
Don’t run from it.
James 1:2
“Consider it pure joy… whenever you face trials of many kinds.”
What Are You Running From?
What if the very thing you’re trying to escape…
Is the very thing God is using to refine you?
Truth
The heat is necessary.
The process has purpose.
And what comes out on the other side…
Will be clearer than what went in.
Closing
Don’t despise the process.
Trust what God is doing in it.
Philippians 1:6 (KJV)
“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:”
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, help me to trust You in the process.
Even when things feel uncomfortable, give me the strength to endure and the understanding to know that You are refining me.
Help me not to run from what You are using to shape me.
Open my eyes to what You are revealing in me, and give me the grace to surrender to it.
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
