Who Left the Door Open

Let me paint the picture.
I’m sitting in the tub, trying to relax, when my son pulls back the curtain that is dividing the master bath from the bedroom in an effort to control the temperature, to ask for a snack. I answer him, he walks away—but leaves the curtain open.

A few moments later… I feel it.
A draft.
The Moment
Even though I couldn’t see the door, and I wasn’t paying attention to it, I could feel the cool air slowly creeping in.
At first, it was subtle.
Then it became more noticeable.
I asked my son to pull the curtain back all the way, which helped a little—but something still felt off.
So, I called out, “Close the door.”
I didn’t even know for sure that it had been left open…
But I could feel the effects of it.
And now, I was stuck trying to get the warmth back—dealing with the residue of what had been left open.
The Revelation
That’s when it hit me.
What doors have I left open?
What have I allowed to enter—knowingly or unknowingly—that is now affecting my atmosphere?
Because just like that draft, not everything announces itself loudly.
Some things creep in quietly…
And before you know it, they begin to shift your peace.
1 Peter 5:8 (KJV)
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”
Take a Moment to Reflect
What have I allowed in that I didn’t pay attention to at first?
What has slowly crept into my space?
Is it bringing peace… or disruption?
Is it producing clarity… or confusion?
Truth Is:
Not everything that enters deserves to stay.
And not everything that feels small… is harmless.
2 Corinthians 11:14 (KJV)
“And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.”
1 John 4:1 (KJV)
“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God…”
We have to become more aware. More intentional. More sensitive.
Because even what we cannot see…
We can still feel.
What Will You Do Now?
Close the doors that should not be open.
Guard your atmosphere.
Pay attention to what you feel.
Because what you allow in…
Will always affect what surrounds you.
Heavenly Father, In the name of Jesus, help me to recognize what is from you, even when it is subtle. Give me the wisdom and strength to close every door that should not be open and the strength to turn completely away from it. Holy Spirit, be my guide and be my fortress. Help me to remember and trust that when every other door closes you will never leave nor forsake me. I thank you for these blessings, in Jesus' name,
Amen.
